William Edward "Bill" Douglas died Tuesday evening, Jan. 31, 2005, at St. James Healthcare.
He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on Feb. 23, 1940, to Orval and Elizabeth (Brugman) Douglas. In 1946, he moved to Montana with his parents and lived in Anaconda for four years. His parents then moved to the Deer Lodge Valley, which was then called the Race Track Valley.
He attended school in the Deer Lodge area and Powell County High School. He also attended the Yellowstone Bible College in Billings where he received his pastoral ministries and was licensed to teach and preach the word of God. He taught Sunday school in Billings at the New Hope Baptist Church. He was a member of the Montana National Guard.
Bill loved to work on the Vanisko Brothers Ranch. He also worked for the state of Montana and moved to Boulder in 1972 to work at the Boulder River School and Hospital and help the handicapped.
Bill met the love of his life, Diane Watts, in Boulder in 1974. They were married in Boulder March 8, 1975. She survives in Butte.
Other survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Linda Douglas of Butte and Marlin and Karen Douglas, Tucson, Ariz.; parents-in-law, Myrtle and John Johnston of Boulder; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Douglas.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the Floral Park Baptist Church the Pastor Phil Roueche officiating.
